The medical campuses shape this neighborhood more than anything else. Between Jacobi and the Einstein buildings along Eastchester Road, you have thousands of staff on rotating shifts, patient transport vans, ambulettes and the private cars of people who genuinely cannot leave the building for two hours in the middle of a shift. That is why so much of our Morris Park work is mobile: the vehicle is already parked for eight or twelve hours, and the glass can be changed while its owner is at work.
Away from the campuses, Morris Park Avenue is a proper old commercial strip, and the small businesses along it run their own vans and pickups. Bakery deliveries, contractors, service trades. For those we do the same thing we do for any working vehicle: check the rack, quote a flat price, and give a time you can plan around. Morris Park Avenue is the commercial heart, a long low-rise strip of shops and restaurants that runs east from the rail line toward Williamsbridge Road. Eastchester Road carries the hospital traffic north to south, Pelham Parkway forms the northern boundary, and the Hutchinson River Parkway is close enough to be useful for cars but useless for anything with commercial plates, since parkways are closed to them. The 5 stops at Morris Park on the Dyre Avenue line, and the Amtrak viaduct cuts across the western side. Streets here are mostly two-family houses with driveways and garages, which makes this one of the easier Bronx neighborhoods for a mobile visit. Hospital lots are the exception, and there we need the level and a bay number before we set off, plus a name at the gate if the barrier is staffed.

Pelham Parkway and the Hutch throw a lot of stone. Both carry fast traffic over surfaces that get patched more often than they get resurfaced, and the sweeping curves mean debris travels sideways into the lane beside you rather than straight down the road. Then there is the sheer amount of stop-start driving around the hospital entrances, where vehicles crawl over speed tables and drainage grates all day and pick up low-speed chips. Ambulettes and transport vans rack up short-trip mileage in exactly the conditions that turn chips into cracks: cold glass, hot defroster, over and over. On the residential blocks, tree cover along the side streets brings down branches in storms, which is where a good share of our back glass work comes from.
Take Eastchester Road or Williamsbridge Road south to the Bruckner Expressway and run westbound. Come off at Hunts Point Avenue, head down toward the water, and turn onto Garrison Avenue. Eighteen to twenty-five minutes depending on how the expressway is moving. Cars can shortcut down the Hutchinson River Parkway to the Bruckner, but a van or a truck with commercial plates has to stay on the surface roads and the expressway, so plan for that. If you work a twelve-hour shift, the simpler answer is to tell us which lot you park in and we will bring the glass to the vehicle.

That is one of the more common jobs we do out here. We need the lot, the level, a vehicle description and a plate, plus permission to be on site if the lot is gated.
