Throggs Neck runs about twenty minutes to our shop on the Bruckner Expressway, and it is a trip plenty of contractors make before the first job of the day. We keep the common windshields in stock, so a replacement is usually same-day, roughly half an hour of fitting, $250 to $450 for most vehicles.

This end of the borough runs on pickup trucks. Roofers, masons, dock and marine contractors working the shoreline, plus the tradesmen who keep the older houses around Country Club and Edgewater Park standing. Those trucks carry ladder racks, tool boxes and a windshield that has been chipped three times already. When one of them comes in we check the rack for the glass first, because a contractor losing a morning costs more than the windshield does, and the whole point of stocking common sizes is that you do not wait on a part.
The residential side of Throggs Neck brings the ordinary work. Cars parked in driveways, boats towed out to the ramps in summer, teenagers' first cars with cracked screens their parents finally decided to fix. We give the same answer to all of it: tell us the year, make and model, we tell you the price and whether it is today or tomorrow. Insurance claims get billed directly. Cash jobs get the number we quoted. Every install is backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty on leaks, wind noise and trim.
Throggs Neck hangs off the southeast corner of the borough, and East Tremont Avenue is the street that ties it together, running from the Bruckner Interchange out toward Fort Schuyler and the maritime campus at the point. The Throgs Neck Bridge lifts off from the eastern edge toward Queens, with the Cross Bronx and the Bruckner meeting in the tangle of ramps at the western end. Harding Avenue, Randall Avenue and Layton Avenue carry the local traffic, and Ferry Point Park sits along the north shore under the Whitestone approach. Unlike most of the Bronx, plenty of houses out here have driveways, so mobile jobs are easy and off-street parking at the shop end is rarely the issue. Traffic is the only real variable, and it is dictated almost entirely by whatever the interchange is doing that hour.
“Very friendly and professional workers. We did a windshield change, and one of the windows wasn't winding up. It fell off the track. They were so helpful. The price for the windshield was the most inexpensive by far. Compared to other…”
Bridge and expressway traffic drives most of the damage. Vehicles come off the Throgs Neck and the Whitestone at speed and merge onto pavement that gets rebuilt in patches, and grit from the ramps travels a long way. The Bruckner Interchange itself is one of the busiest knots in the region and the right lanes there stay chewed up. Salt air off the Sound corrodes trim and pinch welds faster than inland, which is why we prime any bare metal we find rather than laying urethane straight onto rust. Contractor trucks add their own trouble: a loose bucket or an unstrapped ladder sliding forward has taken out more rear glass on this peninsula than any burglar ever did. Boat trailers reversing down the ramps in summer add a few more.
Take East Tremont Avenue west to the Bruckner Expressway and run it westbound through the interchange. Stay on it past Castle Hill and Soundview, come off at Hunts Point Avenue, then head south and turn onto Garrison Avenue. Twenty minutes when the interchange behaves, half an hour when it does not. Coming off the Throgs Neck Bridge, join the Bruckner directly rather than cutting through the local streets. Commercial plates have no restriction on that route. If you are running a crew and cannot spare the truck, our mobile unit reaches every street out here, including the driveways in Country Club and Edgewater Park.
Master One Auto Glass works across Bronx and the surrounding towns — pick your neighborhood:
Yes, as long as the truck can sit still for the length of the job and there is space to work around it. Mobile service costs the same as in-shop with no trip charge in the Bronx. Give us the site address and a rough window, and bear in mind that heavy rain or freezing conditions will push an adhesive job to another day.
It is worth knowing about before we start. Urethane does not bond to rust, so any bare or corroded metal on the pinch weld gets cleaned and primed as part of the install. If the corrosion is severe enough to need bodywork we will tell you straight rather than sealing over it and letting a leak show up in six months.
Tempered glass breaks into thousands of pellets and they get into seat rails, load floor channels and the spare wheel well. Full cleanup is part of the job, not an extra. Bring the truck as it is and we will vacuum it properly before the new pane goes in. Most rear glass runs $200 to $450 fitted.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
